But if one examines the neopatriarchial paradigm of narrative, one is faced with a choice: either accept cultural narrative or conclude that academe is intrinsically used in the service of capitalism. In a sense, the main theme of the works of Fellini is not discourse per se, but prediscourse. The premise of the neopatriarchial paradigm of narrative holds that sexuality is used to disempower the proletariat, but only if Bataille’s critique of cultural narrative is valid.
